Knowing God...

  • God loves YOU!
In the Bible, God tells us that he loves us. "This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us." (1John 4:10)

  • It is because of our sin that we are separated from God.
Sin is not doing what God wants you to do. We sin when we disobey God.  "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)

  • God sent his son, Jesus, so that you would not have to die for your sin. Jesus died on the cross, He was buried, and He rose from the dead. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)

Steps to becoming a Christian

admit
Confess to God that you are a sinner (Romans 3:23, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23). Repent and turn away from your sin ("Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord..." Acts 3:19)

believe
Believe that Jesus is God's Son and that God sent Jesus to save people from their sin (John3:16, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8)

commit
Give your life to Jesus. Trust Him to be your Savior and Lord ("...if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord', and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." Romans 10:9-10).

God's Holy Spirit will help you know if you're ready to become a Christian. If it is time for you, pray this prayer to God:

Dear God, I know I have sinned and that my sin separates me from You. I am sorry for my sin. I believe Jesus died on the cross for me so my sin can be forgiven. God, please forgive me. I ask Jesus to come into my life and be my Savior and Lord. I will obey You and live for You the rest of my life. Thank you. Amen.
